How To Find Social Media Content Ideas – 7 FREE TOOLS & HACKS for Never-Ending Content!
FREE TOOL #1 Keywords Everywhere

UPDATE FOR KEYWORDS EVERYWHERE AS OF OCTOBER 1st 2019:
Keywords Everywhere is now a paid browser extension. If you’ve used KW before, you probably saw this coming at some point. While it is paid, it’s extremely cheap compared to other tools out there, and if you are serious about keyword research for your content, it may be worth it.
They assume that for most users, the cost will be around $2/month. So, if you want to try it out, throw $10 at it for 100,000 credits (so that’s data on 100,000 related and suggested keywords). What’s great is that when you run out of credits, it doesn’t continue to charge you. You simply won’t see the data until you decide to add more credits.
This tool is absolutely amazing, and simply sits right on your browser (Chrome or Firefox), and gives you tons of free data for what people are actually searching online!
It’s super easy to install.
Once you go to the site at KeywordsEverywhere.com, just choose whichever browser you’re using, and just click on the one that you’re working on.
You’ll then need to sign up for an API key, which is right at the top at the link “GET API KEY”.
Just enter your email address, they’ll send you the API key and the simple instructions to install.

How to Use Keywords Everywhere
Let’s say your business is in the health and wellness space. Maybe you’re a trainer or have a supplement you’re selling, and you want to create content around Ketosis.
Normally if you headed over to Google to do a search, it would give you some suggested keywords that people search for in the list below the search field.
But with Keywords Everywhere activated, you actually see the keyword data (how many searches per month) for each keyword.
Keywords Everywhere adds search volume data to Google searches!
What happens after you actually hit the Search Button, and the results appear? Keywords Everywhere will actually give you the related keywords and their search volume on the right hand side of the results.
Keyword ideas provided by Keywords Everywhere
Then right below that, as you can see above, KWE will give you a list of phrases that ‘People Also Search For.’ This will give you massive power in knowing the exact type of content you can create to attract YOUR target market.
It gets even better…
You’ll also have the ability to collect the keywords that you can use in the future. You simply hit the ‘star icon’ next to the keyword, and add it to your list.
Click the star next to any keyword to save it
To access your keyword list, you’ll just click the extension, and click on “my keywords” and you can see all your saved keywords in one convenient spot. You can even export them to a CSV file or excel file if you want to open them up as a spreadsheet!
Click on the K extension icon, then My Keywords to access your saved keywords!
This extension is definitely a must-have if you want continuous ideas to create content that attracts the exact targeted prospects to YOU!
FREE TOOL #2 Answer The Public

This one that actually ties nicely into Keywords Everywhere, and is an extremely valuable asset to have in your arsenal.
AnswerthePublic.com is a website that you’re definitely going to want to take advantage of. For the life of us…we still can’t figure out why this tool is still free.
*** Answer the public has now ‘gone pro’ – meaning that it is a freemium option now. (We knew this was coming at some point.) You can still search 2 keywords per day for free, but any more you’ll need to become a member.
Just type in your keyword, and click the ‘Get Questions’ button.
We’ll stay with the Ketosis example.
Once you search, you’ll see a ring with a slew of questions that people type for certain keywords.
While that’s cool all by itself, what most people don’t even realize is that if you hit the Data button, you’ll get a chart version.
When you search this way, Keywords Everywhere ties into Answer the Public. Meaning you can now see the Keywords Everywhere data that gives you the amount of searches for each phrase.
Click on the ‘data’ tab for each section and you will see the results in a chart WITH keywords everywhere data!
Pretty insane right?
This will give you tons of options for each and every style of question (who, what, when, where, how, will, etc.), so you have a never ending supply for your future content.
FREE TOOL #3 Quora

When you hop over to Quora.com, you get to see the questions that people are actually asking in any given niche.
Let me repeat that: YOU LITERALLY GET TO SEE THE QUESTIONS THAT YOUR TARGE MARKET HAS!
Simply type in your keyword of choice in the search bar at the top and hit enter, and you will see a slew of questions asked directly by your target audience.
NOTE: I would not ‘search by topic’ in this case, just search the keyword alone and you will get much better (and easier to read) results.
Even better, if you don’t happen to know the answer to the question, for instance “Is Ketosis Safe?”… you’ll be able to see the answers that people supply right there.
THIS IS KEY! If you don’t know an answer to a question YOUR TARGET MARKET HAS – it’s your responsibility to learn if you want to become the authority in the niche.
Very often the people who answer typically know what they’re talking about! (not always of course, but you’ll be able to filter through the answers for the best ones.)
To utilize Quora you’ll have to create an account. Once logged in, you’ll have access to all that Quora has to offer.
You can even use the sidebar to drill down even further. You can see the most recent questions, as well as how many answers each question has. This will give you added confidence when creating content, knowing you have tons of valuable info at your hands.
Example of some amazing results from one simple search in Quora
Also… as a huge bonus to attract more of your best prospects…you can circle back and answer the questions right there in Quora!
FREE TOOL #4 Reddit & Other Forums or Groups

Chances are you’ve likely heard of Reddit. But what’s really useful about this site, is that there is a sub-group (or Sub-Reddit) for nearly ANY topic you can think of.
NOTE: Any and all forums and groups are a great way to get content ideas directly from people in your target market. Where is your tribe hanging out? Facebook groups? Reddit? Other forums? Find that out and join the conversation!
When you go to Reddit.com, the first thing you’ll want to do is conduct a search for your topic.
Then you can see the various communities for that specific topic. The great part is that you can also see the size of each community by number of members.
For instance, if you do a search on Reddit for “Ketosis”, you’ll see this…
Now do you think joining a group with 1.5M people on your niche would be a great idea, and extremely powerful for YOU to come up with content? You bet it will!
Of course it doesn’t have to be Reddit. This goes for any discussion groups online including Facebook Groups. Just go where your target market is hanging out, and get never-ending content ideas.
Some reddit groups host weekly Q&A sessions – if you find one of those groups in your niche, you struck gold. Every week, you will find people IN YOUR TARGET MARKET asking questions they need answers to! They are literally giving you fresh new social media content ideas every week!
FREE TOOL #5 Buzzsumo

Buzzsumo.com is actually what’s called a Freemium website.
This means that you can use the service to a certain point, but then it will ask you to join and pay to keep going. But that’s okay, because just using the free part will be super powerful for you.
Buzzsumo will give you an aggregate of the most popular articles of any given niche.
When you go to Buzzsumo, you’ll type in your topic. We’ll stay with “Ketosis.”
The results will give you the aggregate of the most popular content online at any given time. Which means you can now see the most popular content online that keeps getting shared in any particular niche.
Buzzsumo shows you the most popular content in any niche
For instance you can see with the topic of Ketosis, list types of posts tend to become the most popular and shared type of content.
-
“7 low Carb Keto Starbucks Drinks to Stay in Ketosis”
-
“17 Best Low-Carb Snacks to Keep you in Ketosis”
-
“15 Low Carb Keto Snacks on the Go That’ll Keep You in Ketosis”
Pretty powerful knowledge there, because now you’ll know what YOUR audience will probably love and engage with. And you would never know that so quickly without a tool like Buzzsumo at your disposal.
NOTE: Buzzsumo gives you a 7 day free trial with their service, no credit card required. If you are just getting started I would HIGHLY recommend signing up for the free trial. You can do years worth of research within those 7 days.
FREE TOOL #6 KWFinder

We use KWFinder.com all the time here at MLSP. This is also a Freemium site where you can search a few times daily.
When you head over, you’ll type in your topic, and hit the “Find Keywords” button.
Almost instantly you’ll find all kinds of data. Not only that, but you can also click on the ‘Autocomplete’ and the ‘Questions’ tabs to get even more content ideas.
Now, one thing that the other tools don’t have is the keyword difficulty meter that will tell you how much trouble you’ll have to rank (for example in google or youtube) for any particular keyword. If all you are doing is looking for great content ideas, DO NOT WORRY ABOUT THIS.
You’ll also see the SERP (Search Engine Results) data.
This will allow you to understand what Google thinks is the search intent of the searcher who use that keyword.
What is search intent?
Search intent is the why behind a search query. In other words, why is the user performing this search online? Do they want/need to learn something? Are they looking to make a purchase? Or, are they looking for a particular website?
Now you can click through those sites, and see what content is currently popular on Google. It’s only there because people are finding it current and useful. That is the content that is answering your target markets’ questions the best!
FREE TOOL #7 Ubersuggest

This is another one that we don’t understand why it’s still free.
Ubersuggest.com is a little bit more advanced, but it’s extremely powerful and worth your time to explore.
Once on Ubersuggest you can enter your keyword, and hit Search!
The results are very similar to KWFinder, with a few more options. The ‘Overview’ tab gives you some keyword ideas, search volume and trends. But, if you click on the Keyword Ideas and Content Ideas tabs, the options really open up.
The Keyword Ideas tab gives you a ton of social media content ideas, as well as the search results like what we covered with KW Finder.
Clicking on the Keyword Ideas tab will give you a list of keywords, search data and search engine results
While the Content Ideas tab acts similar to BuzzSumo, showing you the most popular content for any given search!
The Content Ideas tab will give you examples of the most popular content for any given keyword
This tool will give you some of the similar data that you’ve gotten from the other sites mentioned.
But it gets VERY interesting when you get to the Traffic Analyzer.
This allows you to spy on your competition (other websites in your niche), and see what they’re doing and what’s working for them. What’s ranking, what’s getting shared, etc.
This goes beyond just simple ways to just come up with content for your social media posts. It will let you get ideas and inspiration from your competitors for all your content… so that you can get found in multiple places by YOUR most targeted prospects.
To check out this part of the tool, under Traffic Analyzer, click on Overview and type in the domain of a competitor or an influencer in your niche and you can see the type of content they are creating and what their most popular stuff is!
